Shout Out Louds Release Second Album

In Sweden that is, but it's not available in the States until September through Merge. Despite heavy Butter Team lobbying, the U.S. Ambassador to Sweden did not address the issue in his recent visit. So for all losers living in the States, please tide yourselves over with this nautical-themed promo photo and the first single + remix from Our Ill Wills, which was produced by Bjorn from Peter Bjorn and John. Stockholm is the new Cleveland!

Tokyo Police Club Snack, Talk with Labels

Rumor has it that the boyz from TPC are drawing interest from top indie clans including Saddle Creek. But before breaking out the big pen and signing on Troy Perkin's dad's back (poor Goonies reference), they snuck into your apartment while you were at work and ate everything. You know that massive sangwich you were going to devastate during American Idol? Sorry son. You know that Dove "Unconditional Chocolate" ice cream you were going to, etc.

If TPC's Lesson in Crime EP wet your appetite for a proper full length, consider these unreleased live tracks a shitty apertif.

Tokyo Police Club - Your English (live)
Tokyo Police Club - Graves (live)
Tokyo Police Club - Cut Cut Paste (live)
Tokyo Police Club - New Song (live)

Alec Baldwin Records Jay-Z Mashup

Ever the savvy self-publicist, Golden Globe Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin has leaked an underground recording of himself spitting hot fury over a Jay-Z beat. Although the subject of the song is unknown, the lyrics indicate it was intended as a "diss" track aimed at one or several female rivals.

The eldest of the legendary brothers Baldwin is now considered a dangerous triple threat in the entertainment industry; combining world-famous acting chops with perfect hair and a buttery flow. Only minutes after the leak (via Tracy Jordan), Alec's varied use of expletives and discriminatory langauge towards women had netted several contract offers from top hip hop executives.

No word yet from NBC executives on their latest outspoken star scandal; and Baldwin could not be reached for comment as he was spending time with family.

Enjoy this Butter Team exclusive:
Alec Baldwin - 99 Baldwins (Straighten Your Ass Out)

And it's a little messed up, but if you're the visual type:

Archers of Loaf: Still Good

Photos of chicks on cars part 2:
This just in, Archers of Loaf (of mid-90's Chapel Hill, NC fame) are still incredible. Although they disbanded in 1998, Butter Team is dusting off a few LPs to reminisce just how nasty this band could be when accompanied by the able production skillz of Bob Weston. We remember watching them play at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem one late night, pitch black in between songs with feedback building, and various female undergarments tossed at Eric Bachman throughout the show as he abused his vocal cords and squinted through a pair of black horn rimmed glasses that looked thick enough to be legit.

Archers of Loaf - Harnessed in Slums
Archers of Loaf - Telepathic Traffic

Bees: Dangerous or Funky?

Although bees can be scary, they can also put together some pretty tight music if given the instruments and studio time. The Bees (also known as Band of Bees or the Bee Boys) make fuzzy calypso lounge. Add some Tang, hot pants and hand claps and you've got something here.
Bees - Angryman
Bees - Left Foot Stepdown
Bees - Punchbag

But here's an example of the damage bees can do if left unchecked or denied creative license:

Loney, Dear Eat Fruit, Tour

Loney, Dear is a Swedish band that's been dropping silky heat in the States lately, saw them open for Of Montreal a few weeks back and they laid the entire crowd down by hearth's edge. There are other members in the band but this guy was the only one available for the press shoot, and even then he was in the middle of a nutritious snack, so. Trying to say they don't have time for this nonsense. Live show courtesy of NPR.

Cut Copy Prep New Album, Blog Themsleves

Aussie electro-pop masters Cut Copy are in NYC preparing their follow-up to 2004's Bright Like Neon Love. You can follow the ups, downs and shenanigans of the band without stalking them thanks this handy Cut Copy blog.

If that's not enough, rumor is they roll deep at Public and La Esquina late night. Give Vinnie a couple Hamiltons or drop the riff from Hearts on Fire on your portable Casio to get downstairs. Or if you're a girl, order the corn on the cob.

Cut Copy - Hearts on Fire

Good Shoes

Good Shoes is a group of lads from London bringing another take on the angular pop punk we've come to know and love as one of the UK's greatest exports.

Of course they have their own sound, just saying, it's jangly rock with accents, so.

Good Shoes - Sophia

How James Lipton Starts His Morning

Some people start the morning off with some smooth jazz and a steaming cup of coffee. This is actually the wrong way to do it. The best way to start your morning, according to James Lipton, dean emeritus of the New York Studio Drama School, is to quickly drink several Sun Drops and then watch your favorite scene from Rad.

This opening scene sets the stage for what is certainly the best movie of all time, and is set to one of the greatest songs of all time (not a coincidence), "Break the Ice" by John Farnham. As you might expect, the best BMXer of this group has a pretty strong mullet.

If that clip made you so pumped up that you no longer want to go to work today, and instead would like to bike up, accessorize and learn how to drop nasty BMX skills, this scene will give you an idea of what you should aspire to. As the only known footage that includes Lori Loughlin, Bart Conner, a balancing beam, and a killer spontaneously-choreographed BMX performance, it's considered by many to be the most accurate description of what it was like to go to a high school dance in the 80s.

Ratatat Live on KEXP

Dropping a free live set by Ratatat on us is just how KEXP do, man. Not a big deal. But if your first instinct is to release years of file-sharing guilt by hitting up their donation station to drop cheese for a worthy cause, do it. Just imagine the respect the hipster chick at Starbucks will now give you while sporting a KEXP messenger bag. You might get a single full eyebrow raise.

Silversun Pickups Acoustic

The kind folks from Silversun Pickups stopped in at Record and Tape Traders in Towson, MD recently for a filthy acoustic set and audience Q&A. One smartass asked the lead singer, Brian, who his favorite Golden Girl was. He stopped, took a deep breath, scratched his on-tour for months chin scrubble, and said, "How to answer what is undoubtedly the quagmire of our generation?" This was followed by a long, well-executed platform outlining the attributes and faults of each Golden Girl before he finally settled on Betty White. The band seemed to agree and then dropped into Well Thought-Out Twinkles (just a quick snippet).

Elementary school lunchtime

Kids in E-school have PB&J for lunch, for whatever reason. These days they may be moving more into the Lunchables pre-prepared arena, but in my day we rocked the P to the B to the J. And that still happens, this time in the form of Swedish rockers Peter Bjorn and John:

Peter Bjorn & John - Up Against the Wall
Peter Bjorn & John - Objects Of My Affection
